Sifu Julio Ferrer is the west coast director of Integrative Wing Chun which is headquarted in New York City by Master Chung Kwok Chow.
He began his martial art training with master Gin Foon Mark in Kwong Sai Jook Lum - Praying Mantis in New York's Chinatown in 1971. In the winter of 1972, Sifu Julio met Master Chow and decided to study Wing Chun as a martial art for life. In 1987, he was certified by Master Chow to teach and share his knowledge with others. In 1988, Sifu Julio moved to seattle, where he opened his current school. Sifu Julio currently supplements his training by studying Wu Dan martial arts and Qi Gong, Pentjak Silat and Capoeira. He is the former president of the Qi Gong Longetivity Association and a former member of the board of directors. The association was founded by Dr. Xue-Zhi Wang and is based in seattle.
In the spirit and philosophy of Integrative Wing Chun (formerly known as Wing Chun Original), Sifu Julio has been and remains open to learning and sharing knowledge with others and is honored to have trained with Guru Besar Jim Ingram (Pentjak Silat), Grandmaster Ernesto Presas (Modern Arnis), Mestres Loremil Machado, Marcos Barrao, Elisio Pitta (Capoeira), and Master Liang Shou Yu, Dr. Yar Jwing-Ming (Chin Na).
"The goal of studying for us is best described as a dynamic process by which we practice to understand the traditional theories, methods and applications of Wing Chun. What we learn in doing so, is directly applicable to all the areas of our life. Our movements reflect the ongoing changes in our thinking and spirit to which we strive to understand and accept.
To dedicate oneself to this training with sincere commitment is to possess a vessel that delivers us throughout life and all the challenges we encounter. We are all equal in that endeavor and therefore related in a common journey."
