Sifu John Melillo began his martial arts training at the age of fourteen studying several different forms of Karate including Tae Kwon Do, Shotokan, and Goju. He began his training in Wing Chun Kung Fu in his mid twenties under Sifu Lun Syn, who was Sifu Francis Fong's first disciple. Sifu John completed the system and was given permission to teach from Sifu Lun. During the mid 1980's Sifu Francis Fong was awarded instructorship from JKD Guro Dan Inosanto, so Sifu John also obtained a good dose of JKD instruction along with the traditional Wing Chun training. Sifu John went on to continue his study of Wing Chun with Grandmaster Ip Ching. Grandmaster Ip Ching had an enormous influence on Sifu John's Wing Chun. Sifu John then studied Brazilian Jujitsu to help round out his fighting skills. He also studied Er Mei Qiqong under Grandmaster Fu Wei Zhong.
