SiFu Veka is a skilled martial artist, who started his journey with Karate and Aikido at very young age. Since there was not so many options in Finland, he trained also boxing and wrestling awhile and tested if Kendo would be his art. His Wing Chun career started in Finland soon after he turned twenty. But the art was still in baby shoes in Finland and he wanted to learn more. So, in his early twenties he moved to Thailand to train Jeet Kune Do and Muay Thai. He was sparring with pros and training hard every day. But it was not what he was looking for. He found a wing chun SiFu in Bangkok also and had a chance to train. Then he felt this could be it. After returning to Finland and testing various Kung Fu styles, he found a SiFu of Wing Chun in France. He knew he had found his art. He fell in love with wing chun. The art was perfect for fighting in small spaces and its attacks fierce and straight forward. This year he celebrates his 20 year journey with the art of Wing Chun. When you ask him anything of is art, you can see his eyes light up and he gladly passes on his knowledge to all motivated students. Nearly 10 years now he has been following his SiFu Wan Kam Leung. In 2007 he saw SiFu Wan Kam Leungs video on the internet and joined SiFu Wan Kam Leungs seminars in Malmö and Copenhagen the following year. He was totally intrigued by the way SiFu Wan Kam Leung was using Wing Chun techniques and body mechanics. He asked to be his student and changed all his history to follow his new brilliant teacher. Because of SiFu Vekas history, his body adapted well all the new things and soon he was ready to become Regional Instructor in Finland. His wide knowledge in many different martial arts and deep understanding in Wing Chun make him an excellent teacher for his students. In 2013 he was honoured became the first scandinavian to be adopted as SiFu Wan Kam Leungs closed doors disciple in traditional chinese Bai Si ceremony. He is now teaching Practical Wing Chun in Finland and travels every year to Hong Kong to learn more from his SiFu. This year SiFu Veka got married and the wedding was celebrated in Hong Kong with world wide Kung Fu Family. SiFu Veka and his wife Kati were very happy when SiFu Wan Kam Leung gave his blessings to the marriage in traditional chinese tea ceremony with his wife. It is a real blessing to be a part of such a wonderful family.
