lineage notes
I have a wide range of interests of which I am most passionate about Wing Chun. Inspired by the Shaolin Temple and Jackie Chan my half a decade search for the right style of martial arts ended with Wing Chun kung fu. I was initiated in Wing Chun during my MBA days by a senior Management student who had worked in China for a couple of years and was from the Leung Ting Wing Tsun lineage.
We practiced mostly on the college terrace post the lectures for a period of a year and then I had a break for a year and half as our careers parted. My search for a Wing Chun partner was doomed only after realizing that there were very few authentic Wing Chun classes readily available in India. Fortunately I chanced to met Sifu C. V. Liv from the Jim Fung Wing Chun Academy (Yip Man Lineage) from whom I got pvt training at my home. However more than the knowledge i got from my masters I did my own practice and testing of the learnt art and got my art refined.
Understanding the problems I faced in getting the right wing chun knowledge in India I decided to start my own Wing Chun school. India Wing Chun Academy was started in Mumbai to guide and develop the true seekers of Wing chun. Today "India Wing Chun Academy" is powered by SWARAKSHAN TRUST, an NGO created by my students to take Wing Chun to the under previleged and weaker sections of the society like women and elderly people. We conduct Wing Chun Self Defense workshops at Mumbai and our branch in Delhi.
To take their art to the next level "India Wing Chun Academy" team is now learning under the guidance of the "International Wing Tsun Association" led by Grand Master Leung Ting. Sifu Shiv along with this top instructors keep visiting Hong Kong to learn wing chun straight from the source and pass on the benefit to their students.
