I have been training in Martial Arts for the best part of 40 years. Starting with Judo in the mid to late 60's, and boxing in the RAF in the early to mid 70's
In 1977 I started a 4 year period of Kook Sul Won, an excellent Korean Martial Art, under Richard Roper in Norwich. Due to service postings, from 1981 until 1987 I also had the opportunity to train Shotokan and Wado Ryu Karate, first in the UK, and from 1985 - 87 in Germany under Rene Gestenberger as part of his Spandau Wado Ryu class, whilst stationed in Berlin.
On my return to the UK in 1987 I started to train in the Wing Chun style with Sifu Harry Canon, who started his training with Alan Lamb in the UK and thereafter as a student and instructor under Sifu Samuel Kwok.
I have been in Sifu Kwok's lineage for 23 years and maintain contact with my original Sifu and Sifu Samuel Kwok to ensure continuous improvement of my standards. I regularly train with UK and Chinese Sifus I have met and become friendly with over the years.
Somerset Wing Chun Kung Fu was formed with the objective of offering quality Wing Chun Kung Fu training to students in the Somerset area, without being limited by politics or restrictions.
